Custom systems & development

When off-the-shelf software isn't enough, we build what's missing.

Internal tools, client portals, dashboards, databases and small web applications, built alongside your automation when nothing on the market fits the way you work. We'd rather configure than build, so when we recommend custom work, it's because it pays.

What we build

The pieces your stack doesn't have.

Usually small, always connected. Each one plugs into the automation around it rather than becoming another island.

Internal tools

Simple screens that let your team trigger, approve or check work without logging into five systems.

Custom databases

One structured home for the data your tools each hold a piece of.

Bespoke CRM functionality

The stages, fields, views and actions your CRM doesn't do out of the box, or a CRM built from scratch.

Client portals

Somewhere for clients to see progress, upload documents or book, without emailing you.

Dashboards

Sales, delivery and cash on one screen, from data that updates itself.

Custom interfaces

Booking pages, quote builders and forms that do exactly what your process needs.

Small web applications

Focused apps with a front end and a backend, like a booking or quoting tool.

Middleware

Logic that sits between systems when neither can handle it on its own.

Custom functionality

Anything that needs code alongside the automation to work properly.

In production

Built because nothing else fitted.

  • A custom CRM and quote engine. For high-volume conveyancing teams, replacing an early Notion setup. Quotes are generated from the lead's details, edited line by line, sent as a PDF and stored against the client. The conveyancing system
  • A bloodwork booking app. A web app for Modern Man Clinic with its own backend on Randox's APIs, taking payment through Stripe and logging every booking to Notion. The Modern Man Clinic system
  • A CRM built from scratch. Modern Man Clinic's Notion CRM, designed around the stages their team actually sells in, with one-click actions on every row.

Build or buy

How we decide what to build.

  • Existing products first. If something on the market does the job, we'll recommend it, even though it means less work for us.
  • Build small. The smallest thing that solves the problem, connected to what you already have.
  • Yours, not ours. Code, data and hosting in your accounts, documented so it isn't tied to us.
  • Part of the system. Every custom piece is wired into your automation, so it isn't another place to keep up to date by hand.
Questions

Custom development questions.

Wouldn't an off-the-shelf product be cheaper?

Often, yes, and when it is we'll say so. We look for an existing product or a configuration of the tools you already pay for first. Custom work makes sense when nothing fits the way you work, or when the product that would fit costs more over time than building the missing piece.

What do you build with?

Whatever suits the job and your team. Typically that's JavaScript or TypeScript, serverless functions, and a database such as Postgres, or Notion and Airtable when they're enough. Everything connects to your automation through n8n or APIs.

Do we own what you build?

Yes. The code, data and hosting sit in your accounts, with documentation, so it isn't tied to us.

Who maintains it afterwards?

You can take it in-house with the documentation, or we can look after it on a monthly support plan.

  2. We reply in writingWhether it's worth automating, how we'd approach it and what we'd need to know.
  3. A 30-minute call, if it makes senseWe map the process with you and agree what a first build would include.
  4. A fixed quoteScope and price agreed before any work starts.
